Brennkögel is 988 meter high peak and is part of the Upper Austrian Prealps. The peak is located 8 km northeast from the center of Rosenau am Hengstpaß and 11 km east-northeast from the center of Edlbach. The nearest mountain hut is Blahbergalm, located 3km east-southeast. A little further is bivouac Jagdhütte. East of the summit is the valley Frenzgraben.
