Sauwand is 1420 meter high peakon which a cross stands and is part of the Mürzsteg Alps. The peak is located 1.6 km east-northeast from the center of Gußwerk and 3 km southeast from the center of Rasing. The nearest mountain hut is Tonionhütte, located 4km southeast. A bit closer is bivouac Rasing Abzw Sigmundsberg, which is located 2km to the northwest. 7 km northwest of the peak there is lake Erlaufsee. The peak is located south of the valley Mühlgraben.
