Scharerkogel is 1517 meter high peak and is part of the mountain group Totes Gebirge. The peak is located 4 km north of peak Großer Wildenkogel. The nearest mountain hut is Ebenseer Hochkogelhütte, located 3km south. Closer is Schwarzenbachstüberl, which is located 1.6km to the west. The peak is located north-northeast of the valley Rettenbachtal.
