Stari trg (Pilštanj) - Vina gora (zahodna pot)

Access to starting point:
a) We drive to Šentjur, then follow the signs for Podsreda and Planina pri Sevnici. At the end of Šentjur we turn left towards Podsreda, then drive along a rather winding road to the settlement of Lesično, from where we follow the signs for Kozje. When Lesično ends we will come to a small gorge, where on the left side of the road we will notice a gravel rest area with a table, benches and trash bins next to it. We park here.
b) From the Brežice - Podčetrtek road at the edge of the settlement Bistrica ob Sotli we turn left (from the direction of Podčetrtek right) towards Podsreda. We bypass the center of Podsreda on the right side, then drive to the settlement of Kozje and continue along the main road towards Lesično. Before Lesično we reach a junction where the road to Pilštanj branches off to the right (this part is called Stari trg), we continue straight for about 500 meters and then on the right we notice a larger gravel parking lot where we park.
c) From the direction of Sevnica and Krško we drive to Brestanica, then follow the signs for Podsreda. A short climb follows, then a descent into Podsreda, where at the end of the settlement we turn left towards Šentjur and Kozje. When we reach Kozje we continue along the main road towards Lesično. Before Lesično we reach a junction where the road to Pilštanj branches off to the right (this part is called Stari trg), we continue straight for about 500 meters and then on the right we notice a larger gravel parking lot where we park.

Route description:
From the parking lot we continue on foot along the main road towards Kozje. Since there is no sidewalk along it, extra caution is required on this approximately 500-meter-long section. When the valley widens a little, we reach the marked road junction for Pilštanj (hamlet Stari trg). Since there are no suitable places for safely leaving a vehicle right at the junction, the decision to park at the previously mentioned organized parking lot is the best choice.
At this junction we leave the main road and turn left towards Pilštanj (to the right across the small bridge, paths lead to Bredič and Bohor). We continue along the ascending asphalt road. After just a few minutes of walking a beautiful view opens up upwards towards the ridge of Bredič and towards the church of St. Michael.
Higher at the junction we follow the road to the left, then in a few minutes of moderate ascent we climb to a small pass at the edge of the compact part of the settlement Pilštanj.
Here the road to the left leads to the center of Pilštanj, to the right branches the usual path towards Vina gora, we continue straight on the asphalt road following the signs for Sedlarjevo and Rudnica. The asphalt road then ascends transversely through the forest, higher up it passes from the western to the northern slopes, where we reach a few houses at the Zork farm. Here behind the buildings we turn sharply right onto a cart track that ascends behind the houses, then continues across the pasture, along the path we are accompanied by sparse markings of the Water Trail Pilštanj–Lesično. In the upper part of the pasture we ascend transversely to the right and reach the western ridge of Vina gora, where we temporarily return to the forest.
When we leave the forest, we ascend across the meadow with beautiful views to the transmitters on Vina gora, where the highest point of the mountain is also located. We do not end the path at this point, but continue further towards the southeast, where behind the nearby house we reach a small junction at which we turn right. We continue along the asphalt road that takes us to the last house, where we join the usual path that leads to Vina gora.
Here we bypass the house on the left side and continue in the direction of the viewpoint, which we reach in a few minutes of walking past the open-air museum.
