My Triglav experience too... this weekend. Due to my fear of heights I always put off Triglav to next season for that reason, though I really wanted to stand on Slovenia's highest peak. Even to prove to myself and friends I can do it. Not a huge mountain fan (not weekly) but I like going.
We went via Pokljuka (said to be longest but not true... probably easiest), to Planika (wonderful). From there same day to top. Lots of people but no problem for me, had time for rests and views. Realized everyone met was friendly patient. Encouraged each other esp those afraid. Wanted to turn back few times but husband and other hikers helped me succeed. At top tears of joy and photos for self and friends. For others' encouragement...down from top I was real climber... Summary: Triglav piece of cake for some, personal success for others. Easy without fear. Overcoming fear counts most for me. And... even if not reached top wouldn't stress. Congrats to all met on path who didn't reach top for any reason! Next time safety first! Those who hate crowds why go anyway knowing Triglav busiest in summer? Also: stayed at Planika (booked rooms by phone) cos probably no stamina for up and down in one day. Nice two-day trip not rushing back forth. GOOD LUCK ALL!!!
