So. I'm also a dog owner. But can't imagine how that would look. Outside can't sleep - short fur, inside would be weird. She's a terrier, which means very attached to owner, other people can be reason for barking - haven't figured out by what rule some OK, others not . Think it wouldn't work. At least I'd have to constantly calm her. That's not really rest. Not for people, not for dog. So we go mainly day trips. And less organization trouble. Need to provide dog food (who carries and prepares ?) and water (few liters... ).

You know Van Sims - on days when you have the mountain to yourself, you suggest the dog on a leash. Are you serious?

A big dog like yours usually has more problems than smaller dogs - approx. 40 cm shoulder height and approx. 10 kg weight. Don't forget that in the pictures you see many happy dogs and they are all roughly in this category. Mostly they are also basically hunting breeds. You know that hunters always needed an enduring dog. And if it's also in the terrier group, like mine, you've won. With my little bitch we have a daily walk of about 5 km, on the weekend ..... we go to nicer places. Yesterday we were at Dovška Baba (yes, the narcissi are starting to bloom) and our little monster was on the go the whole time. The path was almost idyllic. We even met one mountaineer, then two roe deer and a squirrel.

Wow, you've really opened fire. Better to talk about more important things. What measures do you have for preventing close encounters with snakes. Their time has come. Last year in the hot months I stayed lower, this year I'm tempted to go a bit out of the forests. But to be honest, I don't dare. A viper can kill a small dog, and that's not really the point of hiking in the mid-mountains.

And then? When you go training? My beast also supervises me before departure. When he sees the backpack... And still. Encounters with people and animals? I have a dog, yet I'm one of those who fears dogs. And I understand people who want their peace. Is it so hard to grab or leash for those couple minutes until the encounter is over? Not for me, nor should it be for others. Many visibly relax when they see the pooch is really under control. To the comment of careless owners "he won't do anything" I usually reply with "does he know that?" or "BUT I DO". Then it's peace. Well, sometimes they look at me weird why I'm nagging when I have a dog too, but that's how I am.

Maybe some dog owner could chime in.... I don't understand this chase. Fact is, there are owners like me - I wander the hills only because of the dog - for some reason. And this with "Dogs on leash" signs. I mean what sense does it make to leash the dog when I'm alone far around????? I attach my little beast when I meet someone, then unhook again And it hasn't happened to me yet that someone got upset. Most people I meet just smile contentedly, because they see I called the mutt and leashed it just because of them. A bit of patience please.
