Velkavrh, hello! I read your post with interest and was surprised that the ascent to our old castle was quite demanding for you. Then I saw that you went along the right path, which is steep and really not pleasant at all. If you had gone straight where you turned right, you would have taken an extremely beautiful path newly gravelled last year and arrived at the old castle through the proper entrance and not via the wire. Too bad. I hope you still enjoyed the wonderful sunny Thursday. If on Škavnica you had gone just a couple more minutes through the forest (it's marked) you would have reached yet another extremely beautiful viewpoint from which you can see practically the whole valley and even the sea nearby. At the opportunity I'll photograph it for you and attach the pictures. Best regards

Nanos in June is a real botanical garden. This is just some of what is blooming now from Lovska koča to Vojkova koča on Nanos.

Wikipedia says we find Laški viper in Slovenia in Breginjski kot, also on Sabotin and Korada. Anyway as far as I know Soča river is the border up to which it's found. So this is probably really grass snake.

Zlatica, your post encouraged me and my husband to hike this really nice trail today. Today it was sunlit and therefore even more beautiful. Lots of people and as far as I heard, every second person was a Slovenian! Looks like many of us read this section!
