Bogdan, many thanks. Hope the weather is good on Saturday, as the hut on Golica is already bookedsmile.

Now I have a question too.

I have already found some on the forum but I'm interested in the actual time from the hut on Stol to the hut on Golica? The net says ca. 5 hours, some say 8 but that's probably in the other direction as the path ascends and there's quite some height difference, from Stol to Golica it descends and that probably makes a difference of up to 1-2 hours?

I want a realistic estimate of average walking because we plan to go the same day from Valvasor to Stol and then direct to Golica and overnight there and then down from Golica.

Also, how is the safety on this path, what is the path like and is it well marked, because once the hutkeeper on Stol told me that two girls years ago walked an eternity to Golica, they almost missed them...

Saturday forecast some cloudiness and I wonder if you think it's OK to go from Stol to Golica as probably not good if a thunderstorm catches you there...

Hope someone replies by then... regards

Hello urskas. Here I just went to check the app on my phone, Sports Tracker, to tell you firsthand how the path goes.

I went on 4.5 this year from Bled by bike to Valvasor Hut.

As I see, my speed dropped sharply at 13.5 km from Bled, so the ascent starts there somewhere, as I went past Žirovnica to Most and then via Završnica to the hut. In the end, 20.90 km. So about 8 km of uphill cycling as enigma said above. Regarding the asphalt steep parts, they are only at the start, then you go through the forest where cars drive but there were none then because there was still snow on Stol. That forest path is about 5 km out of the total 8 km and there is no asphalt. I needed from Žirovnica about one hour and a bit but I'm not some super trained cyclist and I believe some can do it in a good half hour or 40-45 minutes but don't worry about it. I also spared myself a bit as I had mountaineering shoes in my backpack and continued directly up to Stol... it tempted me but probably I won't go again as it was an honest effort but somehow it went despite a lot of snow on top.

When I arrived at Valvasor Hut, I asked the gentleman working inside if I could leave the bike somewhere safe and he unlocked a big room in the ground floor and I left the bike, helmet etc. there...

In short, if it tempts you, it's worth it, it's nice, but better during the week because on the weekend I believe tons of cars go on the path at this time.

Hope it goes well for you.

Regards
