Thanks for the reply, janez.novak. I've already been to Begunjščica via Kalvarija - from Ljubelj over Prevala, Kalvarija, to the top of Begunjščica and down to Roblek and back via Prevala-Ljubelj (really wonderful). But since I was so enthusiastic about Roblek, now as the days lengthen I'd like a quick "after work" variant for sunset - and down with a light - so I need the fastest route to Roblek (but not from Planina Planinca, as the road is in very bad shape, and it almost drives to the topmežikanje

Hello. I would ask for advice. From which starting point do you go (recommend) to Roblek - which is the quicker variant - but not one where you drive almost to the top (like e.g. from Tomčeva hut)? From Ljubelj over Prevala I've already been - wonderful panoramic, but more of an excursion variant in my opinion - if I go solo, I prefer steeper, to get up quicker mežikanje But rather the one from Draga or rather the one from Tinčkova hut or yet another one from somewhere there?

Hi. Thanks to all for answers - well for the part I asked about. Yeah, last time up there quite some time ago so didn't remember how it is... That's why I asked... I wouldn't get into "little crampons". Magroman, I agree with you - well, you need to know when, where and how to use them. Anyway, changed plans, inquired elsewhere and got similar answers that it's OK... So today headed up - to wait for sunset on Roblek. Hoped (expected) OK conditions to also go to Veliki vrh. So now I can answer my own question on conditions for anyone planning to go up in the next days... Went from Roblek and on the path to the top really just a trace of snow, which poses no problems - at least afternoon when not frozen - think morning too with more caution bp. Was thinking if I would go with more snow. But then without proper gear - real crampons, ice axe (and knowledge) wouldn't go on this ridge mežikanje Asked because I know that many hills around 2000m in suitable conditions are OK even without real crampons and ice axe... Will find some such before a course I'm planning to attend this year (to show off a bit then - not for anything else velik nasmeh) A bit of fun must be there, right - LP everyone!!!

Heh, I even googled a bit how to phrase it so no one gets hung up on naming these "little crampons" on chains with rubber, and found mini crampons, cramponlets, etc. They definitely aren't real crampons, nor "nothing". That's why I chose that name. I hope someone who knows what I mean answers my question... Debates on crampons, little crampons and how stupid or smart it is to use them are plenty elsewhere on the forum, so no debate here. I asked for winter conditions on Begunjščica. Thanks and LP

Hello, has anyone been to Begunjščica in the last few days? What are the conditions, or how is Begunjščica in winter - is it fairly safe with these small crampons and hiking poles (if no general avalanche danger)? Thanks for the answer and LP
