Hello,

I plan to hike a section of the Slovenian Mountain Trail (SPP) from Idrija to Škocjan Caves. 5 days. 4x sleep.
I'm wondering if you know how sleeping in huts is these days? Are all huts open? As I checked the alpine association website, I'm afraid some huts aren't open on weekdays. Where do people even sleep when doing SPP if not under the stars?

Thanks for any info.

Hello,

this year I decided on a slightly different vacation. I plan to set off on foot for about 7 days and chose to start at the beginning of the Slovenian mountain trail - in Maribor. So, I'd start walking in Maribor, each day hike about 5-6 hours and wherever I reach in 7 days I'd arrive and then somehow find transport home. No fitness issues. But since I've never set off from home on foot with a backpack, I'm curious what and how much to take (clothes, food, extra gear, etc). Please any advice on preparing for such a multi-day trip. Thanks and best regards!

Yeah, maybe 5-6 hours walking per day too little. Didn't think what to do rest of time. You took it easy nasmeh Don't know, never been multi-day on foot, so thought not overdo 10 hours day. Though I say I have fitness, still bit afraid how it would be walking 7 days 10 hours day... Anyway would see on go how it goes. As I saw huts every few hours. When reach one see how tired and time and decide on spot sleep there or continue..
Food: thought breakfast in hut, dinner in hut, need snacks in between. Can I buy some along or carry for 7 days? Drinking water in every hut?

Powerbank good idea, and sandals, wouldn't think of that myself.

Should I take sleeping bag too though plan sleep in huts? Reserve huts in advance or arrange on spot? Better mountaineering boots (over ankle) or hiking shoes (under ankle)?

So clothes as little as possible and something for rain, right? And maps. Are there maps in Slovenian Mountain Trail guide?
