Question for Tadej. Is the Vrtača hut ever open at all?

Putting religious (and other) symbols on our summits bothers me too. Only the Aljaž Tower,
as a recognizable part of Triglav, should remain.

On 4.6.2017 I also visited just one part of Čičarija, namely Brajkov and Županj vrh. In Rača vas I turned onto Vepreniška road (gravel), after a few km parked at turnoff for Korita. On very nice trail reached Korita hut in under an hour, it was open as PD Glas Istre had an anniversary.
After refreshment on northern trail to Županj vrh. Around summit surprised by lots of flowers. Tons of irises, a bit less Slovenian lilies and peonies.
On southern path to hut, hop to Brajkov vrh, back to car.
I recommend, especially early June.
