Children are just watching the movie Srečno Kekec and they're excited about it.
I'm interested in the locations where this film was shot (e.g. scene with the beggar, pasture where children herded livestock, Pehta's hut and cave, gorge with stream, Skalar's homestead...).
I'm more familiar with the Julian Alps on the Gorenjska side, over Vršič I'm a bit clueless!

Well yeah, only that part past Krma. The ledge hangs into the valley behind Cmirom. But that's not essential. Important is that the ledge is exposed and overhangs. Otherwise no issue, but still this path isn't best in snow and ice.

On boots suitable for automatic crampons you can attach short 99 cm skis with bindings similar to snowboard ones. I tried this combo on the ski slope, even there it was more by force.
If you want to ski, get touring snowshoes. Skis can be long or short or...

12 points, definitely steel and not aluminum. Make sure they are easy to use and preferably with rubber against snow buildup, and that they fit well on boots (even if you need to slightly modify crampons or boot, so they fit well). On sale, you take them from the store for about 50 euros.
