We headed past Planina v Lazu towards the Peaks. On the trail - except around Planina Blato - we didn't meet any hikers. The path to the saddle between Hribarice and the first Peak can be pathless with plenty of cairns. From the last Peak we continued along the ridge following a lone chamois and descended into Globoka Konta. The scree right and up to the saddle between Zadnji Vogl and Peak was too much for us, so we turned left towards Planina v Lazu. When the view towards Planina v Lazu opened up, we decided to stick to the left scree under Debelim vrhom and completely forgot where Konjske Police got their name. Soon after exiting Globoka Konta we spotted a thin path to the right leading to the already known gully under Krede and Slatno, but we ignored it. And we got what we were looking for - a wall without passage. We wandered a bit among the dwarf pines and kept coming to overhanging walls, when already a bit tired we decided to return to the path that offered itself. And after a fairly elegant passage we reached the gully under Krede and Slatno and back to the Planina v Lazu. When we looked back at Konjske Stene, it became clear to us that we were lucky...

The right variant path along the scree is unmarked and very steep towards the top - much worse for slipping than the marked steep path. In snow you can sink your boot, where it's windblown you hit only ice covering rocks.

Proper crampons require an ice axe and knowledge of its use. Small microspikes are no substitute for caution.

Yesterday and on Saturday conditions on Nanos were fully wintry - icy path in places, towards the top hard crusty snow and quite bad bora whose gust can easily throw you down. Since we returned via Janez's valley, I only saw the helicopter at the base which came for the hiker who slipped midway on Pleša, probably flew over the rocky drop and then through the woods. Hats off to the pilot! The guy at the base talking about passing the injured was wearing Adidas zmeden Nanos is no hillock!

Well yeah, I was thinking of Marky and the comment below, that he should choose more adrenaline-packed routes to Grintovec...

I think we met on Sunday on the path to Grintavec.
But the path via Mlinarsko sedlo without crampons was really too much adrenaline...

Yesterday we headed to Ledinski vrh. Two touring skiers followed behind us but turned back as they couldn't find the hunter's path. We continued towards Baba and reached the first waterfall, where we turned right up the gully which rose impudently at the end. The snow was brittle and the ice axe had almost nothing to hold, but deep down the crampons luckily found some ice so we got out of the gully a bit above the Ledine hut height. When the terrain flattened, the snow crusted so badly we almost turned back, but then conditions improved, at 1900m we hit the sun and soon the summit. On it two skiers from Okrešelj and one dog. Then we sped down to Ledine, searched again unsuccessfully for the hunter's path (250m down and up...) and finally descended via Žrelo back. From Žrelo to the cable car the avalanche debris is covered with 20cm "sugar slush" which hides all unevenness so walking was quite unpleasant. So after nine hours of hiking we were very glad to see the car...
