we did this path last autumn and it's described here. It is really very nice and relatively long, but worth it.

Cloudy weather and peaks in fog above 1650 m didn't promise best conditions for ascent to Krn summit, but nevertheless we head to the top from planina Kuhinja. Snow starts around 1250 m, on Kožljak it's already over half a meter. Snow sinks to knees, higher even more, trampling very strenuous, so we take turns. Above 1700 m fog is quite thick, visibility about 15m. At summit after 3:10 h ascent, we refuel, sign the book and descend the same way. On descent fog is less thick, at times sun breaks through clouds. Yesterday there were six of us at the top. Despite zero view, yesterday's ascent to Krn was unique.

We park in Stržišče village and go along the geological path towards Rodica. Above the village we join the path above Rut and Grant villages, here we take the lower narrower path (wider goes to Štržiška planina - no sign!).Along the old military path with stone markers and very gentle ascent we join the gravel road from Rut village.Past the hunting observatory to junction, turn right and along very nicely traced path reach the ridge where view to the west opens.Soon path from Bohinj side joins and in ten minutes to Rodica summit.Short rest and along ridge to Črna prst.Very cold wind from north side, warm autumn on south ridge side.Beautiful views to all peaks.Dom on Črna prst closed, sign the book at summit and descend to saddle, turn right on steep slope.Path through forest to gravel road, at junction turn right to Kal village and soon back to start in Stržišče. Nice autumn loop path.

jprim, do you know that on Krn they have no water supply? Supplies ran out, without water the shelter can't operate!! And that warden would never strike, even though the earnings are indeed (too) small.

Igor, I really enjoy reading your contributions. It's nice that as an experienced mountaineer you checked this ferrata, it seems now flawless and officially open too. Photos as always excellent, descriptions too. With your knowledge and experience you could write a new mountaineering guide. And also - what does MRM mean?
