Rodica - Črna prst

I haven't been in these parts for some time. I started late above the village Rut first on the marked trail, then on steep grass to the top of Črna prst. I visited almost all peaks on Raskovec and waited for sunset. Towards Rodica there was still enough light for walking. Fantastic day, little wind and warm just right.

This chain doesn't quite belong up there, it's under the cableway in the gully, if someone goes looking for it.

Yesterday the weather in the valley was clear and hot. From Vogel to Rodica windy and occasionally cloudy. Further quite foggy, couldn't see far. On the trail (left side of the ridge) still some snowdrifts - snow soft anyway, but the trail demanding for inexperienced. From Črna prst to Orožnova koča also snow, but easy to avoid.
For the whole trail Orlove glave - Boh. Bistrica we needed under 7 hours (with 3 longer stops).

There are stamps at Vogel and Rodica. You just need an inked pad.

Yesterday afternoon I walked from Črna prst towards Rodica. To Matajurskega vrha practically no snow, further the trail goes on the north side and is more or less fully snow-covered. Probably could go without crampons, snow quite sun-exposed, but I preferred to descend the slopes south of Poljanskega vrha to Stražišče. Summary: Trail from Kala to Črna prst on to Matajurskega vrha no issues, further "wintry". Off-trail descent from Matajurskega vrha to valley for those used to such.

How some underestimate hiking trails.
Many after this description fancy a "walk".

Yesterday my better half and I decided to do a circular route. We left the car under the cableway to Black Thumb in Stržišče. There's a nice parking lot here. We continued on foot towards Ruta and above it along a nice wide path all the way to the top of Rodica. Yesterday quite a few people visited it. After a short stop we continued along the ridge path towards Black Thumb. It's a nice panoramic path. No more snow, except a small snow patch (about 5 meters) on a safe section, which won't be there in a day or two. Weather was excellent. Annoying was only the slightly stronger north wind along the ridge, which didn't allow short sleeves. After a small snack at the hut on Black Thumb, which was closed, we descended back to Stržišče. The route took us a little less than 8 hours. Very nice hike that in good weather also offers nice views. We recommend.

Mizakaši- where does the Stržišče -Rut path go? Can you describe the route?

When you reach Stržišče drive through the village and right above the village park under the cargo cableway on the nicely arranged spacious parking lot. Then on foot descend back to the village and after two, three minutes you reach red signposts on the right side marking the path to Rodica and Rut. Follow the rarely marked ascending path to the saddle above the village where you cross the gravel road and continue straight past the shack on the left side. Follow this track, which is also a geological trail, to the road above Rut. The path has only slight ascents and slight descents. From here continue on the gravel road where at the next junction keep right. From here a nicely marked path equipped with signs leads, which is described in the above link. Good luck.

A few years ago we did this route and I remember that due to the lack of marking at the mentioned saddle we missed the continuation straight and slightly downhill and stepped towards Stržiška planina (right). Luckily a hunter met us after a while, when things started to seem suspicious to me, and directed us in the right direction.

On Thursday afternoon I went from Podbrdo to Black Thumb. Today from Black Thumb to Rodica, then I descended to planina Suha and to Ribčev laz. Path without peculiarities, watch out not to step on some snake. Today a few more photos, as befits this part of the path.

Today's traverse.

Ravne - Orožnova - Black Thumb - Rodica - Vogel ski slope.

Nice weather, occasional clouds helped cool along the ridge. Path is dry. Route finished at Ski Hotel Vogel and then with gondola and bus to Bohinjska Bistrica. Friendly lady stopped and drove to Ravne.

20 km, 1700 elevation meters and lots of enjoyment.

Hello.
I would like information on how much walking there is along the ridge between Rodica and Črna prst (in the summer period) and what the current conditions are.
Thanks.nasmeh

6 km and about 430 elevation gain. I think it's doable without issues in about 3 hours or less.
