In autumn we will publish websites about the Iskriva footpath: Brnik–Most na Soči and the Iskriva cycling path on the same route in Slovenian and English.

We will also prepare brochures in Slovenian and English.

Twice a week (on Mondays and Fridays) you will be able to follow various interesting facts from the path here.

Currently there is a working Facebook group!

If we have the need and desire to create a map for the web or brochure ..., which contains besides gpx tracks e.g. also points of places, you can do this with the help of the desktop application Qgis. How to do it | | HTML |

On the forum we write about Ffyona Campbell, who walked across Africa in the 90s. She had very big problems in Zambia with tsetse flies, with old lions ... In her book we approach the Democratic Republic of Congo. Today at the world championship they play against Uzbekistan. DR Congo has such a nice opportunity, already a minimal win will be enough for a historic breakthrough among the best 32. More about Ffyona's hike from South Africa to the border with Congo | Facebook |

Shark Bay (Australia)

Unique bay on the west of Australia, known for stromatolites – the oldest forms of life on Earth. The area is protected by UNESCO and is famous for its crystal-clear water and rich marine life.

Loch Leven (Glencoe, Scotland)

Beautiful Scottish lake surrounded by dramatic mountains and the characteristic wild landscape of the Highlands. Popular spot for photography and starting point for exploring Glencoe valley.

Cana Island Lighthouse (USA)

Picturesque island in Wisconsin with a 19th-century lighthouse. Special due to its heart-shaped form, which stands out from the air, and access via a shallow path through the water. More ...

The book is only in English, available on Amazon. Currently read 43 pages out of 340. It's an interesting book as Ffyona writes about her feelings on the path, experiences (positive, negative) etc. The hike was funded with sponsor help. She had a support team in a jeep. But they didn't drive behind her, they waited at certain points. Downside of this all-male team was that some told her they'd leave her at a certain place because they wanted to do their own projects. Didn't want to be just porters. In South Africa biggest troubles with mosquitoes and body pains from excessive walking.

Iskriva Trail: Brnik-Most na Soči is the only Slovenian long-distance hiking trail that starts at Jože Pučnik Airport. Foreigners step off the plane and they're already on the hiking trail. The reason for this is "Iskriva karta" Edvard Rusjan, who has his plane on display in the charter flights terminal, with which he flew through the air similarly to today's BASE jump wingsuit pilots.

Ffyona Campbell first walked South Africa in 43 days and 1500 km on her journey through Africa in the 90s. You can see more about this hike in the Facebook group: Hike through Africa

Oliver Tič has interrupted his Friendship Trail around the world. He probably won't return to the trail. His body no longer allowed him to tackle long-distance hiking day by day. His hike from west to east across the USA and especially from South to North America is something special and extreme in long-distance hiking.

The Friendship Trail around the world was also something special. He walked Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, some France, some Spain (Camino), some Portugal and Morocco along the western Atlantic coast.

He should definitely write books about these hikes.

Oliver has given up on Africa and will probably never hike it. And the way he tackled it alone without escort is mission impossible. Ffyona was accompanied in Land Rover to supply her with necessities. You need a certain budget for such a feat.

Oliver Tič has given up on Africa. The food there didn't suit him, which he cites as the main reason for feeling bad. He decided to fly to Thailand at the end of the month, to the capital Bangkok. From there to Malaysia and Singapore. He is not too optimistic that he will complete this route, because he says he will return home if he doesn't feel well.

One of the world's most famous female hikers, who among other things also hiked Africa (early 90s), is Ffyona Campbell. Interestingly, from the direction of Cape Town (South Africa) she walked the last part along Oliver Tič's route (Western Sahara, Morocco). More about this hike ...

ChatGPT comments on above replies: Yes, I agree with what's written.

In the photo from Zelenci the background is clearly recognizable Ponca ridge ending to the right with Jalovec. Visoka Ponca stands out most, so topic conclusion correct; suggestions like Plaski Vogel or Visoka Peč don't match this perspective.

Oliver Tič will step into the Sahara. He wants to walk along the Atlantic Ocean. Nevertheless, there is a lot of wind there that carries sand through the air and blocks roads. He has also acquired special clothing to prevent sand from entering the body. The desert (Sahara) is covered by countries: Morocco, Western Sahara (claimed by Morocco), Mauritania and Senegal. It's 1,700 km of desert. On one of the pictures you can see the gate to the desert, which is in the city of Guelmim. From Oliver's videos it is evident that quite a few cyclists cross the desert. In this part of the world there is no water, no food every ten kilometers. We'll see how Oliver will manage in this desert. Probably cars, trucks and also cyclists drive on these roads. Pedestrians probably can't be there very often.

Millions of years ago, Slovenia was also in the area of today's Morocco, Turkey ... This is proven by the Oligocene clay (green marl) in Udinboršt and its surroundings (municipality of Naklo, Tržič, Kranj). Near Podnart there is the very famous Plaznica stream, where they discover fossils from the sea of that time, which covered Slovenia when it was in a tropical climate near the equator.
