Marmots and chamois also brightened my day yesterday

Yesterday we met. I stop a bit and take some pics. Then I circle it from farther away so as not to disturb it unnecessarily.
Before stepping over the edge, I heard its call, up there among rocks where it perched Unforgettable

I think you met not an adder, but a nose-horned viper. On the first pic, it seems I see a little horn on top of the head. On the second, when returning, the pic shows a reddish
tail tip. That's characteristic for the nose-horned viper. In the years hiking hills, I've met both myself. The adder seems shyer, quickly retreats if I meet it, the nose-horned viper slower or not at all. Always raises its head like on your pic.

Yeah, must be pretty uncomfortable following a bear like that.
I have a book on animal tracks, and for the bear it says that when walking slowly it steps with hind paws into the tracks of the front ones If I see right, you have that track in picture 2

Encounters with the ptarmigan are always something special
It appears suddenly from nowhere, I just spot her. If she has a good day (to my joy), she stays long near me. Sometimes she prefers to be alone and quickly moves away from me.
This one kept me company for a long time, grazed not far from me. I had a snack in good company

@Marty hi, I was up there today. You cross another snowfield, but it's not problematic. Winter gear is not needed for visiting Tosca Regards.
