I'm looking for one or two suitably experienced mountaineers/skiers for ski descent from GG probably sometime in February. We'd take a guide, if three people it's 150 eur per person, if I'm alone it's 340, which is also the main reason I'm looking for a companion. Lp,

Yesterday we were on Govca. From the Slovenian direction, everything is nicely bare to the summit ridge, where there is still some snow, but it can be crossed without special difficulties. The Austrian path to Obel kamen is practically still entirely under snow, so we decided to skip Obel Kamen and return the same way, but we still wanted to see Vrata (Felsentor), so at the junction a little below Potočka Zijalka we turned to Austria anyway. From that junction onwards, the real obstacle course begins. The entire west side is full of fallen trees (storm), which need to be climbed over, crawled under, or detoured by going far up the hill to avoid them. When you reach the north side, the fallen trees are replaced by small ice fields and snow patches, so great caution is needed. I would advise against the path for the less skilled; the stubborn and those who enjoy solving problems get as a reward at the end a pristine gem with a wonderful natural monument and magnificent views.

Anyway, thanks for the explanations! We'll see how the weather will be next week.. for now it looks a bit bad.

Otherwise I do have experience with ferratas, free climbing and walking on pathless terrain and orientation in nature. Not all packed together like here, which makes the tour so interesting. Just I don't feel like carrying a rope along if not needed, because I'd sleep at Kotovo sedlo and then continue the path to Jalovec and to Vršič. That was the point. It's true I didn't find that discussion, though I searched for it. If I had, I wouldn't ask anything at all.

What won't/not be clear to me? You mean orientation? Or that it's simple climbing? I wrote Brezpotje wrong..

Cool thanks for the answers. I'm reading some stuff on this topic that scares with belay and Italian pitons that lead to death. Variable weather spoiled my plans anyway. It'll be for later. Just so I know I don't need a rope with me... Descent plan was over the junction to Kotovo sedlo, I plan to come from Tamar over the ridge to Kotovo sedlo with as little weight on my back, since I plan to continue the route afterwards, that's why I asked about snow...

Does anyone know the condition of the path on the ridge traverse Tamar - Srednja Ponca - Vevnica - Kotovo sedlo? I'm interested in the condition of the safety gear; have the Italians maybe fixed anything? Is a rope team still needed? Also interested if anyone knows what the snow conditions are like in that period? Thanks for the answers.

Has anyone gone skiing in the gully or towards the saddle? What are the conditions, is there enough snow? Lp

Today Ox and I went to Uršlja Gora (Plešivec) from Slemen. The path is very suitable for a dog, quite steep though, but goes through the forest, so the furry one doesn't get too hot. But I have to warn that we met surely 10 dogs or more up to the top and on it, so if your dog has issues with its peers I advise against this trip. It's true it's Saturday today, so there were more two-legs than at the morning market.
