Description: In the steep slopes of Canfranc Estación, in the 1920s a series of dams was built to contain possible snow avalanches. Tracks were prepared for this purpose, in wide zigzags allowing mules to carry construction materials uphill. These works were part of the ambitious plan to build a large international trans-Pyrenean station. The station fell into disuse in the 1970s and the current crisis has halted its remodeling as a luxury hotel.
