Description:
A place that is pure magic for me. Year after year, season after season, as if it were always the first time. Malga Federa, Rifugio Croda da Lago and the homonymous lake at the feet of the majestic Croda da Lago. An imposing wall of pure dolomitic rock, viewed in this wonderful winter attire. On trail 432, starting at the level of Lago Pianoze (1176m), one ascends through the woods along what in summer is the most famous carrozzabile road to Malga Federa (1816m). The malga is reached in about 2 hours of walking to admire the first panoramic points of the large rocky massifs stretching towards Valle del Boite. Cristallo, Sorapis and Antelao with its traditional pyramidal shape. Reaching the Rifugio and Lago Federa subsequently is just a matter of an hour (or less) along this well-trodden but almost always icy trail (crampons very useful). Upon arrival, Paradise welcomes me, the Rifugio closed in winter but the beauty of this place fills my day with great energy.
