Description:
Circular traverse to this mountain whose most notable feature is its intense reddish color, which could make us think we are on Mars.
We set out from the Selva de Oza, following the normal route that would take us to the popular Castillo de Acher. Once out of the forest, a steep slope awaits us that leaves us on grassy slopes near the Refugio de Acher, with the Castillo to our left. Then the path zigzags until reaching a large rock where we see a painted arrow saying Castillo de Acher. At this point people turn left to climb the final slopes that lead to the rocky wall of the Castillo. We do not turn, but continue straight, leaving that large rock to our left (following the red and white GR markers). We continue on a path that does not gain height and we see the terrain turning reddish. We arrive at the Collado de Barcal, with Anatera Alta right in front of us and Castillo de Acher behind us. To access the summit of Anatera we progress along a grassy slope that steepens more and more, without any path. We access a kind of terrace and in front of us we see a small red rock wall that we must overcome to reach the summit. There is a gully that, using our hands, takes us to the upper terraces, already almost at the summit, in an authentically Martian landscape.
