Description: From Vigo di Fassa by cable car to Rifugio Ciampediè then on foot (about 45 minutes) along trail No. 540 to Rifugio Gardeccia at 1965m. From here take the wide road (trail n.546) that, through Valle del Vajolet, reaches in 40' the Porte Neigre, Rifugi Preuss and Vajolet at 2243m. These are located on a rocky balcony at the outlet of the Gartl, the rugged rocky basin from which rise the famous Three Towers of Vajolet, Delago, Stabeler and Winkler. Overlooking this valley are some of the most famous peaks of the Fassa Dolomites: the Catinaccio with its dark wall streaked by melting waters collected from the upper basin, the jagged spires of Larsec with its characteristic cliffs the Vajolet Towers that can be glimpsed three-quarters along the Gartl and at the end, closing the valley, the dark trapezoid of Catinaccio d'Antermoia which, with its 3004m, is the highest peak of the group. Continue north along trail n.584 running along the right orographic edge to the head of the valley. Here, near the homonymous pass, stands the small Rifugio del Passo Principe at 2600m (2.30h from the cable car).
