On the path, following the Spitzsteinhaus sign, along the stream below the hamlet Mitterleiten until a open slope opens up on the right. (You can also go over Mitterleiten by following the Spitzstein sign right up at the beginning.) Up the mentioned open slope and immediately cross left again to the next clearing. Here descent route and ascent track meet. Therefore caution is advised. Correctly traverse up to the forest edge, where the track leads somewhat above the middle of the slope into the forest. Now continue always on the small forest path. Once open terrain is reached, the track is usually laid quite directly upwards right along the forest edge. At the cross near Steinmoosalm the ascent route splits. Straight up leads to Spitzsteinhaus (1263 m), from which one could cross right again to the ascent route. But the direct way to the summit aims right at the cross and rounds a tree island on its right side. Then climb up the prominent, ideally inclined, wedge-shaped narrowing south slope. Having climbed the flat ledge, go right through light forest, partly quite steep, mostly near a drop-off to the summit with cross and small chapel.
