Description: The impressive limestone crag Klapy, locally also called Cigánka, rises above the Nosice reservoir near Považská Bystrica and geographically belongs to the Javorníky Mountains. In lower elevations, it is densely forested, higher up there are sparsely vegetated rocky outcrops. The peak and adjacent areas, declared a nature reserve in 1993, are home to a colorful mosaic of plant and animal species, such as the rare Slovak false asphodel or rock owl. From the inanimate nature, numerous rocky crags of often very interesting shapes can be admired here. One of these crags resembles a woman eating. According to local legend, it is a gypsy woman who stole a pot of porridge from men plowing under the peak unnoticed, and was turned to stone as punishment. From the summit part of Klapy, a beautiful view opens to the Nosice reservoir and the town of Považská Bystrica, as well as to the Súľov Rocks, Little Fatra, or Strážov Mountains. A marked tourist trail leads through the reserve from the village of Udiča, as well as from Považské Podhradie or Považská Bystrica.
