Description:
22-01-2023: MONTE STELLA LOOP FROM ZOMEAIS (TARCENTO)
We drive to the hamlet of Zomeais above Tarcento and leave the car in a parking lot right after the church. From here we first follow the signs towards Crosis waterfalls and to “Borgo Mic” i.e. the first group of houses we immediately see the CAI marker on a power pole. We continue quickly along this nice trail that crosses the road to Stella several times. We reach the small village of Malemaserie where the only sign indicates it is not completely uninhabited. We do a short bit on asphalt and then resume the trail which in one total hour takes us to our first panoramic point of the day Belvedere Jakacht, with a breathtaking view of the Friulian plain, we enjoy the view of Tarcento, the Friulian plain, Bernadia right in front of us, monte Cuarnan, Stol in the distance covered in snow up to monte Prat. We set off again and in just 10 minutes we reach the large cross with a view of the plain and here just above us a pile of stones with a small red wooden cross. This is the summit of monte Stella! We continue the monte Stella loop towards another small hill, the summit of monte Oussa. Here we find a monument, a cross but above all a breathtaking view of Alta Val Torre, Gran Monte, Cjampon and the entire Alta Via di Gemona. Beautiful! We close the monte Stella loop following the CAI markers to borgo Boreanis which to say eccentric is an understatement. A group of signs, installations and somewhat peculiar sculptures welcome us as soon as we pass the village. It is surely an artist's home. We descend to the bell tower of Stella and through the asphalt road close the loop meeting on the right the trail we emerged from this morning.
