Description:
The castle is first mentioned in a document around 1184, where a 'Chuno de Chienburch' appears. He was probably a ministerialis of the Counts of Lechsgemünd, who had given him Kienburg as a fief. The construction of the castle probably took place in the second half of the 12th century.
