On a forested ridge in the north of the Höllengebirge hides one of the most enchanting excursion destinations above Lake Traunsee: the Hochsteinalm. Children love it for the many, partly exotic animals populating large enclosures there, adults rather for the hearty delicacies served in the alpine inn. There's even a rocky "house mountain": The Lärlkogel offers a surprising view as far as the Traunstein.
