Description:
Not far from the Hungarian border, but already on Slovenian territory, in Lendava, rises the snow-white walled building of the Lower Lendava Castle above the town center. A fortress stood on the Lendava hilltop already in the 12th century, but it was destroyed during the Tatar invasion, the stone castle built afterwards became the property of the German-origin Hahót kindred, who later took the name Bánffy, and until their extinction in the 17th century became the most influential dynasty in the area.
