On the 2nd day of the autumn holidays in the Dolomites, we tackled Monte Averau 2647m via Ferrata Averau! We start from Passo Falzarego and first have quite a distance to cover to Forcella Averau, but this is already a scenic highlight, with today's goal always in view ahead of us. After reaching the notch, we traverse Averau on the south side in the sun at the foot of the wall to Forcella Nuvolau, from there it goes up towards the entrance of the very short but really great via ferrata to Averau, which reminds me a bit of the Brenta. From the entrance of the via ferrata, it's still via a stoamarkierter path and some scrambling up to the summit. Up top we are completely alone and enjoy our summit snack and the great panorama. Comfortably we go back the same way and reach the parking lot before sunset! Tomorrow it will be sportier again when we climb to Col dei Bos.
