Description: 17-08-2022: Route of 8.600 Km, Elevation Gain 1000 Mt. Mount Amariana (La Mariane in Friulian - 1,906 m a.s.l.) is the mountain dominating Amaro (Carnia), with its typical pyramidal shape: from the summit, there is a very wide panorama over all the Carnic and Julian Alps, the Friulian plain up to the Upper Adriatic; at the top of the mountain there is a statue of the Madonna (1959), in front of which many faithful go to pray after the 2-hour walk leading to the summit. From Forca del Cristo, elev. 975 to the little altar made by the Friends of Amariana, in memory of Don Benedetto Heidersdorf, take trail 414 CAI to proceed towards the summit on an equipped route in the upper part, from about elev. 1600 to the saddle that opens the view towards the Palavierte - M. Sernio complex, then turn left, always on equipped route, to the nearby summit: statue of the Madonna of Amariana (work of sculptor Max Piccini), placed in 1958 by the Salesians of Tolmezzo with the collaboration of the Carnia Scouts. The statue is the object of veneration of the Madonna of Carnia, particularly on the three Marian feasts of August 15 (Assumption), December 8 (Immaculate Conception) and May 24 (feast of Mary Help of Christians), with participation of numerous climbers from Friuli and neighboring Carinthia. Under the guidance of Don Benedetto Heidersdorf (Don Heider), the group of Friends of Amariana was formed in the 1960s who kept this tradition alive.
