Oberfalkenstein Castle Ruins A-9821 Obervellach

Description:
The ruins are located on a rocky ridge descending from the Pfaffenberg, through which a Tauernbahn tunnel passes. The castle area is about 90 m long and up to 30 m wide. The eastern access was secured by a forward neck ditch and a stately bergfried. The residential buildings were on the north side of the large courtyard. They were built against the ring wall here up to 1.50 m thick. This is still largely preserved up to a height of 6 m.
