Description: 19-04-2022: The Livenza springs are located at the foothills of Cansiglio-Cavallo. The abundant annual rainfall and the characteristics of the limestones make this formation highly karstifiable and karstified with spectacular morphologies. The massif is characterized by an almost absent surface hydrography, consequence of widespread karst testified by the presence of hundreds of dolines, sinkholes and wells and by an underground hydrography developed up to very low altitudes, typical of mature stages of the karst cycle. The waters go to form the underground aquifers that feed to the West Lake Santa Croce and to the East in the Friulian Plain the springs of Gorgazzo, Santissima and Molinetto. The infiltration directions and the underground paths of the waters, which on several occasions have been attempted to be identified by tracings, remain partly unknown. Recently tracers injected into the Abisso di Col de la Rizza have emerged at Santissima and Molinetto.
