Description:
On the Medves plateau, northeast of Salgótarján, we find Salgó Castle on a 625m high volcanic cone. The name means 'shining, radiant, sunny, sunlit place, mountain peak'. Picturesque, sack-like stacked gray basalt columns surround the core upon which the medieval castle was built.
