Ski Mountaineering Monte Peralba along Ferrata Sartor

ASCENT: From Cima Sappada follow the road to Sorgenti del Piave: through Piani del Cristo, Pian delle Bombarde and Pian dei Pastori, leave Passo Avanza on the right and finally after almost 9 km reach 1815m near the summer parking. A track with several hairpins climbs towards Rifugio Calvi in the valley between the walls of monte Cjadènis east and Monte Peralba west. Climb it leaving the former marble quarry artifacts on the left to reach the refuge, well visible at the base of the south wall of Pic Cjadènis. Continuing along the valley climb towards Passo Sesis, upon reaching the top of the first ramp when the terrain becomes much less steep head towards the wall of Monte Peralba to the start of the ferrata. Depending on the snow cover the ferrata can be more or less easy, evaluate carefully before venturing. After the ferrata if snow conditions allow it is possible to put skis back on to the nearby summit cross.
