In this video, I take you on the spectacular ascent to Brocken, the highest peak in northern Germany, via Eckerlochstieg from Schierke. This route offers a perfect mix of adventure, breathtaking nature, and challenging sections. The ascent also goes through the forest heavily infested by bark beetles - a man-made problem that, through climate change and extreme heat, as well as a human-planted monoculture of spruce, has led to forest dieback - so an honest insight.
