Description: The Esztergom coal loading tower is an industrial monument standing in the Danube riverbed at river kilometer 1721.5. Its function was to transfer coal dust mined from the Dorog coal mines to river barges. The steel structure resting on concrete foundations was connected by a more than 5.7-kilometer cableway to the coal mine's sorting unit, along which skips loaded with coal dust arrived at the Danube bank. The coal loaded onto ships was mainly transported to the Csepel power plant and Budapest's industrial facilities.
