19/11/17 Ascent to Laghi Gemelli from Baite di Mezzeno in winter

From Roncobello village, drive to the Capovalle hamlet and continue to the end of the road at Baite di Mezzeno, where you park (1600 m). Start gaining elevation on the left side of the valley (orographic right) along the path to the aqueduct intakes. Exit the sparse woods at about 1800 m and on the left leave trail 217 which goes to Tre Pizzi. Crossing the pastures reach baita delle Foppe (1933 m) and baita della Croce. The trail then climbs decisively to gain the steep slope leading to passo di Mezzeno (2142 m). From the pass enjoy excellent view of Laghi Gemelli. Continue downhill to reach trail 216 coming from rifugio Alpe Corte and the lake shore which is followed to rifugio dei Laghi Gemelli (1961 m).
