Description:
High above the Danube Valley and the town of Dürnstein throne the ruins of the former Dürnstein Castle, which was built in the mid-12th century by the Kuenringers.
The castle town below the castle was systematically expanded in the 13th century and first mentioned in documents as a town in 1347.
