The 25km long, demanding mountain tour with 2300m elevation gain starts at Wimbachbrücke. The tour first leads up to Watzmannhaus (1930m), then the alpine part begins. After reaching Hocheck (2651m), the most difficult part of the Watzmann Traverse follows, with via ferrata sections category max. B and climbing UIAA I. Quickly you reach the main summit of the tour, the Watzmann with its 2713m. It continues on the now slightly longer route to Watzmann-Südspitze (2712m), where among others the highest rock face of the Eastern Alps with 1800m height is located, peppered with some key sections. On the mountain tour, the VERY long descent follows, which due to its length must not be underestimated. Only from Wiesbachgraben (or Wiesbachgrießhütte) does the path become noticeably easier, making the last kilometers a fairly relaxed walk.
