Description:
The castle is first mentioned in documents as 'Winthag im Machland' in 1287.<br>During the Hungarian wars in the 15th century, it was taken without a fight and burned down.<br>However, the castle was rebuilt and in the 17th century a magnificent palace in the late Renaissance style was built next to it, which was soon demolished to the foundations due to lack of interest by the then owner, the prioress of the Dominican order.
