The approach starts in Hinterstoder and first leads for some time over easy hiking trails up to around 1700m at the tree line. Around the Kessenspitz, the path becomes more alpine, the difficulty is in the SAC T3 range with a few scrambling sections to overcome. Just before the summit, additional care must be taken on some loose scree sections and rocks. From the summit of the (not so) Kleiner Priel, at good visibility, a beautiful panorama awaits around the Totes Gebirge including its neighbors.
