This carnation has exceptionally rich flowering this time. We also call it kavtavžar. Usually it doesn't flower so profusely. Such branched inflorescence has quite a few carnations. The most profuse is of course the bearded carnation. Similar growth also have the Croatian ones—they are supposed to grow on Gorjanci, the blood-red ones grow in Primorska. We also have srhke.

The common pink (Dianthus carthusianorum) is generally widespread in our area on dry meadows and pastures from lowlands to subalpine belt. On karst terrains grows similar Trieste one-it is protected and also Croatian (found on Gorjanci)-this one is also protected. In Slovenia two subspecies are supposed to grow-besides typical subspecies Dianthus carthusianorum subsp. carthusianum botanist Hayek (1908) mentions also subspecies Dianthus carthusianorum subsp. latifolius.

Description-up to 40 cm high, delicate plant. Capitulate inflorescences few-flowered.

All data summarized from Small Flora of Slovenia.
