Leafless speedwell (Veronica aphylla)
Description:
Stemless speedwell (Veronica aphylla) belongs to the plantain family, flowers from June to August, grows 3 to 7 cm tall. It is a low plant. We often overlook it due to its small size. It usually grows right on grassy alpine paths. It loves stony lawns, snow valleys. The low stem is leafless. Only under the delicate blue flowers it has bract leaves under the inflorescence at the stem top. The inflorescence has 1-6 flowers. The calyx is 4-parted. The leaf rosette has densely hairy leaves with glandular hairs.
