Učka - Vojak

which is the better choice...
1.) via Potok and Lovranska Draga?
2.) or via Vlašinj, Kalić - Visoče

Is it best to do a loop, up one side/down the other?

I recommend up from Medveja and via Visoče and Mala Učka -Saddle-summit (nice views to the sea at some spots). back from summit direction Saddle-Vela vrata-Dol-Lovranska Draga-Medveja
Take early start time, sun is stronger in the morning and beats into your back all the time

Učka was sort of planned last year already, but it came up this yearnasmeh.
We did a circular tour and that's always the best option. Started at Poklon pass, then headed east and continued towards so-called Na Dole, followed Vrata and via Sattel to Vojak summit, which is the highest peak of Učka and entire Istria. Returned in the opposite direction (north), under the radar and transmitters past Jazbina back to start.
Views from the top were gorgeous, all around, reaching to the snowy Julian Alps chain, across entire Istria to Brijuni, Kvarner islands Cres and Lošinj, and also Velebit. Dolomites were a bit fading from view.
Well, to all those nice views on top contributed a Siberian cold wind, so we didn't linger long on the summit.

On return we took a closer look at Vela Draga canyon too, but even closer sometime in the futurenasmeh.

ločanka,
if you'll be anywhere around those parts again, I warmly recommend checking out the little town / village of Veprinac. It's along the path up to Poklon, really cute and charming with an exceptional sea view. If Opatija too, then camellias obligatory velik nasmeh and that on the terrace with sea view cool

Wow, the first picture, the church, could be it, the second photo doesn't ring a bell though, even though I walked the village up and down. Unfortunately it's about ten years ago, somewhere around there, and I didn't explore the village from below and above either, I just drove into it and parked right in the yard of a friendly local nasmeh

It's quite a bit higher than the coast, too far for a walk from the beach, say velik nasmeh
