On Monday 6.8.2012 my friend and I did the ascent and descent via the mentioned path.
Before buying the ticket we checked the weather again at the ticket seller and he called to the top hut and showed the forecast with a thumbs up. There were few visitors that day, on the return via normale we maybe found the reason. Before the descent to the glacier the cable is torn about 10 vertical meters. The descent to the glacier without protection is very awkward because there is a glacier crevasse on one side and the other, we had a rope with us. I noticed no warning about the torn cable, nor did anyone at the cable car warn us, nor the hut keeper. Or maybe they don't repair it on purpose?

Does anyone have fresh news on the trail Lafo Fedaia-ferata along East ridge-Punta Penia (Marmolada)-descent via normale over rock jump and glacier. Last year apparently torn cables in descent, how are snow conditions? Planning visit in August. Thanks and good luck to all!

All are accessible with the right grips. Tough, tough tours and ascents we've done together over long years and we'll do some more, towards evening it clears up. Ciao!

On Monday 4.8.2014 we ascended from Lago di Fedaia to the hut and from there across the glacier towards the summit. Weather was excellent, so the views were phenomenal! The glacier itself is still well covered with snow, but towards the top there is one small and one large crevasse. We reached the summit in just over 3 hours. For me personally an excellent tour and nice memories, because exactly 2 years ago we stood on the glacier below the summit and had to turn back due to rapid weather deterioration!
