We didn't meet him We were there at the end of July for the first time on this two-thousander. Toll in Ukvah is 5 euros, when we returned in the afternoon, the guys were no longer in the hut. Road is quite OK, narrow in places, traffic signs very scenic, but during the week no traffic. Also at P only a few parked cars, one Slovenian. Further along the road to Nordio hut, persistent barking of their guard dog (we have a dog) drove us right onto the path surrounded by forest strawberries. On this section met quite a few downhill mountain runners, obviously some race. Path really pleasant, gently graded through forest and quickly leads to Bistrica pasture. Also here very clear signs where livestock is grazing and how to behave. To main summit turned left path here, steadily ascending, sun hiding behind clouds not too hot. Whole summit slope full of fragrant black mulberries, never seen so many in one place! Times hold up, at least for us. Summit wonderfully panoramic all around, clouds unfortunately hid highest peaks of E and W Julians and High Tauern. Traversed along the ridge to the cross, alone there too, met some hikers in between. Returned same path, next time circle to Bistrica pl. Stopped at hut on pasture, beer and strudel slice 10 euros (dessert not worth its name). Goats curious as anything. Otherwise lots of cows and horses grazing, avoided them in wide arc due to dog. Curiosity didn't give us peace, so turned also to chapel of Mary of the Snow on pasture, from there nice shady forest path directly to P, met only one hiker. Water plentiful everywhere. Stopped in Ukvah too, really exemplary arranged, viewed mighty church. Tour we liked, really easy and nice two-thousander on border, will return here for sure!
