We did it two years ago like this: from the parking where the Nordio Deffar hut once stood to Sella Pleccia, on to Marije Snežne over Bistriška planina to the summit. We descended back to the planina, then looped toward Sella Lom (detour to Planina Dolinca) past the new Nordio Deffar hut (closed on Sunday and apparently no winter operation) back to the start. Tabacco 019 map is the right one. If you don't have it, attaching pic of this area. Good luck!

On the Austrian side of Ojstrnik, the current ski conditions are: https://bojanambrozic.com/2018/02/10/ojstrnik-oisternig/

I don't know how it is for skiing on the Italian side.

Today's morning ascent to Ojstrnik. From the Nordio hut across the beautiful Bistrica pasture to the summit. On the return, also a walk to the chapel of Mary of the Snow and return to the starting point. The weather held up, no peculiarities on the path nasmehnasmeh

Ojstrnik + Zahomec

Yesterday was a beautiful day for the first visit to Ojstrnik (at least for me it was sonasmeh), as the views from the top were really boundless and clear, all amid the waving soft autumn dry grasses enriching the views. Julian Alps, Western Julians, Naborje mountains, Carnic Alps, Dolomites with Antelao, High Tauern with all main giants, just the highest backdrop. We stepped on both summits, western and eastern, and it was actually hard to say goodbye from both. Since there is never enough beauty, we also climbed to the beautiful chapel of Mary of the Snow, then towards Zahomec pasture, crossed it and up to its summit Zahomec. Wonderful peak, the trip would be poorer without it.

Along the whole way we chose paths so we always walked a different one, closed the loop from the completely opposite side at the parking by former Nordio-Deffar hut.

Up the left valley and down the right one, snow starts soon above the starting point. Midway it snowed, then the weather improved.

We didn't meet him mežikanje
We were there at the end of July for the first time on this two-thousander. Toll in Ukvah is 5 euros, when we returned in the afternoon, the guys were no longer in the hut. Road is quite OK, narrow in places, traffic signs very scenic, but during the week no traffic. Also at P only a few parked cars, one Slovenian.
Further along the road to Nordio hut, persistent barking of their guard dog (we have a dog) drove us right onto the path surrounded by forest strawberries. On this section met quite a few downhill mountain runners, obviously some race. Path really pleasant, gently graded through forest and quickly leads to Bistrica pasture.
Also here very clear signs where livestock is grazing and how to behave. To main summit turned left path here, steadily ascending, sun hiding behind clouds not too hot. Whole summit slope full of fragrant black mulberries, never seen so many in one place!
Times hold up, at least for us. Summit wonderfully panoramic all around, clouds unfortunately hid highest peaks of E and W Julians and High Tauern. Traversed along the ridge to the cross, alone there too, met some hikers in between. Returned same path, next time circle to Bistrica pl. Stopped at hut on pasture, beer and strudel slice 10 euros (dessert not worth its name). Goats curious as anything. velik nasmeh Otherwise lots of cows and horses grazing, avoided them in wide arc due to dog.
Curiosity didn't give us peace, so turned also to chapel of Mary of the Snow on pasture, from there nice shady forest path directly to P, met only one hiker. Water plentiful everywhere.
Stopped in Ukvah too, really exemplary arranged, viewed mighty church. Tour we liked, really easy and nice two-thousander on border, will return here for sure!

Yesterday an easy circular hike to Ojstrnik and Zahomec. From the parking lot via Nordio hut to Bistrica pasture and along the mule track to the top of Ojstrnik. Then along the ridge path (482) back to Bistrica pasture and under Gozman to the chapel of Mary of the Snow. Then also to Zahomska pasture and to the top of Zahomec. Back to the parking lot along the path past the chapel of St. Hubert (507a). Conditions without any special features, on Bistrica pasture a lot of livestock, on Zahomska pasture many mountain bikers. They increased the toll/parking fee from 5 to 7 eur.
Below the peak of Ojstrnik, behind from Višarje, across the Viška group to Zuc del Bora, where smoke (fire) is visible.1
