Today a nice hiking group gathered with the goal Ojsternik... Conditions were appropriate to the weather, up to the plain below it there was a track, further on we made the track... The snow was very crusty and sank several times to... We returned past the chapel to the starting point... Nicely spent day in beautiful areas at summer temperatures... nasmeh

Today with Romana we walked a circular path above Ukvam. First peak was Ojstrnik, we went past Marija snežne, Bistriška planina to the top. From the top we went along the ridge to planina Lom, nicely along the border, but the last meters we detoured a bit. Next peak was Konjščica, (afterwards we regretted not stepping on Starhand too). From Konjščica we descended the grassy slope to sedlo Freda, from there again up to Cima Bella. Once more we descended a few meters and again up to M. Cocco. Now the descent through the meadow into the valley awaited us, where we had the car parked. We walked pleasant 18 km. Over 1700 m elevation gain accumulated. It was a joy on the way that Romana's ankle didn't hurt. We did a nice circular route, saw very few visitors.

She hasn't eaten blueberries this late yet

We have hiked quite a few surrounding peaks (peaks of friendship)

And does anyone know what Ojstrnik is like in winter or with current snow amounts. Can one go without special winter gear?

Should be doable, but I recommend at least crampons. Especially the roads might be slippery. In different conditions it could be different...

Thanks. I'm aware things can change quickly. Overnight there'll obviously be a bit more snow, so we'll probably go somewhere lower.

I visited Ojstrnik ten days ago. I'd warn that path 403-507 in the lower part is very hard to pass due to new logging. First snow probably beat the foresters who didn't clean up. Logs and branches everywhere, pretty unpleasant in snow. Worth trying path 507.

Thanks, anyway I'd do a loop hike, though I doubt I'll make it this year, it was mainly an option because clouds were forecast elsewhere.

Luckily sunny even in Slovenia's farthest corner or maybe even better. Today at Tromeja fantastic, almost summer weather above fog, views to "all" Austria.

Zatrep Ukva valley - Lom saddle - NW slopes of Ojstrnik - summit. Mentioned approach possible only on skis in winter conditions, which aren't fully there yet, missing another meter of snow.

The peak in the Carnic Alps offers a bit of everything. You just have to get there... yeah, a bit farther for us, but once on the summit you forget the early hour and long drive. Great panoramic views all around. The predecessors wrote a lot, I can only add photos... and you just have to set off on the trail.

Today we concluded our short vacation with ascent to Ojstrnik.
From parking lot to Sella Pleccia and past chapel Maria Schnee towards beautiful Planina Bistrica. From the pasture right path to summit, left for descent then to Sella Lom and back to parking.
Nice easy loop for everyone, all paths well marked.

A great afternoon on Ojstrnik. I started much earlier at the chapel, which is also the start for Kok or the road to Sella Colarice. Up the closed forest path along the ridge Mulejev vrh... Zahomec to Ojstrnik. Descended past Rif. Nordio to the chapel at the bridge.

On Sunday (17.12.) on skis to Ojstrnik - over Sella Lom via NW slopes to the top. Skiers were accompanied by some snowshoe hikers. Given the weather, I'd say great conditions still hold...
