Čemšeniška planina - Krvavica

The Zasavje - Posavje hills hide many beauties that at least I think we know too little about. Today's excursion to Čemšeniška planina was unforgettable, because from Čemšenik there is also a short path, we decided to add something, Krvavica the next goal, but no time for Zajčeva koča. The whole path from the starting point - Čemšenik, well a bit higher, to Krvavica and back took about 5 hours of walking, good training , meanwhile we picked čemaž (wild garlic), there's an indescribable amount. People we met on the path and along it, really something special. And safe steps on the path.

Rozka, nice that you come to our part of Slovenia sometimes, I'll go tomorrow in the opposite direction as you today, from home in Dobrljeve past sv. Primož to Krvavica then to Čemšeniška for tea and back home, the hotel name in Prvine is Utrip. Best regards and happy trails!

Hi, Looking for some info on the path to Čemšeniška planina from Zagorje, but can't find anything. Approximately how long is it and where's the starting point? Thanks for any help and cheers everyone!

Where are all the Zagorje people today that no one helps you? Don't know if my info will be much use. We started at the Mining Museum in Kisovec. At first we walked on the road then turned onto the mountain path. Since it was years ago, I don't even remember exactly how long we walked, but I think definitely not more than two hours. Probably the hut keeper at the Dom would tell you more. http://www.pzs.si/koce.php?pid=145

If no Zagorje guy helps, Trbovc will. Evk, in Zagorje you can start the path at the workers' home and head to Levstikova street. Then follow the marks. Path goes to Ruardi, over Vinski vrh, past hunters' lodge at Klančišah, past ruins of Gamberk castle and through some villages (Ržiše,...). Terrain-wise the path is varied (asphalt, gravel, forest path). As for length, I needed good two hours, don't know marked time. Or you can drive to Vine village and save almost half hour walk. Good luck.

Today (24.03.2012.) first time ascent to Krvavica. Start at parking on forest path and up a very steep but well trodden path. Over exposed rocks and finally over the window, because of which we went to that beauty. Window is ok, but from web pics it seemed longer to me. Logbook at top and then down to Zajčeva koča... which is closed. From Zajčeva koča we went down into the canyon of unnamed stream and thus descended to the start of Loke village. That ravine of unnamed stream is really super thing, but marks faded and path quite overgrown. Super thing I recommend to both! Friend Cviko was with me.

At the starting point in Loke there were already some cars parked in the morning, but no crowd anyway. Actually up to Dom na Čemšeniku we met practically no one, up there a cheerful group was sitting, I assume PD. At start the warning about media on the path provided first amusement, so we walked quietly not to disturb them (no, not really). First we climbed through picturesque window to Krvavica, descended from it to saddle, then towards Črni vrh on Čemšeniška planina. Hut is a stone's throw descent from it. Whole ascent fog was pressing, at some spots unpleasantly windy. Then at least fog cleared and it became nice. Practically no snow on path, no mud either, plenty of čemaž and whole fields of crocuses. On return we descended past Krvavica on unmarked path below Krvavica, where apparently even falcons nest, the wall has interesting reddish color, well fox-like actually. Veronika Deseniška did her deed here probably.. Picturesque, interesting, not too flat, suitable to conditions and season.

On a wonderfully sunny Wednesday I went with my sister and schoolmate from elementary to Čemšeniška planina. Starting point was idyllic village Šentgotard, from where to the top almost three hours walk, total about 5 hours. Couldn't choose better weather for visiting Čemšeniška planina, cloudless and very warm, almost hot. Just a little snow left in shady spots. Crocuses and snowdrops in full bloom in Čemšeniška forests. Planina invites to climb up and enjoy its beauties, so I strongly recommend the trip. For info: mountain hut closed. Photos:

Great, pure bliss hit me , ... But I'm curious about the wild garlic, does it have flowers already, of course they still have to be closed so I head out for it, since I pick that bear's garlic every year. LP!

jprim@ wild garlic already has still closed flowers. And what exactly do you do with them, I'm curious, because I grind it all together with the leaves into "pesto", and you? LP

Thanks for the reply, then it's time to go out into the field. I pick and use them myself: flowers that must still be in buds I pick and fill a glass jar, of course press a bit (for pickling) and pour good olive oil over. Store in fridge, still have some last year's stock. Use is completely simple, when I need the stuff I take a spoonful, put in pan and so I already have oil in the pan, add zucchini ... Leaves I grind in food processor, add a bit of olive oil so it binds better, put in bags and freeze, before that shape into short sausage. When I need it, with knife just cut off ... (That's my invention). Very handy and useful.

On Krvavica every year we pick up ticks, so this year too we didn't avoid the tradition . It looks like it's their kingdom there. But for the first time I went through the window and along the unmarked path under the climbing wall. Very nice and interesting tour.

On May 1st to Čemšeniška, of course before that to Zajčeva hut and jump to Krvavica for ticks, totally for real and to home on Čemšeniška, where there was a real crowd, of course nice weather and holiday, followed by picking wild garlic, of course at the right spot, since there was quite a lot of dog company. LP!

Yesterday quick to Krvavica on soaked and muddy path, descent was real rodeo,.. We met only chamois. Famous Window through which path passes is worth seeing. I'll come again in better weather. Regards
