Samo, if you think so much, then sometimes attach a link, be it for those who don't think or think little, or maybe for those who don't think at all, which I easily agree with you here. Yes, quite a few people carry a head full of holes on their shoulders for everything else but using what's in that head. Convinced ones can't be convinced, we both know that.
Some share stuff so info is available, not just constantly watching and listening to ordinary one-track minds at war with all logic, even if you don't think at all you can easily see that. Cynicism really isn't welcome these days, but it's clearly one of the weapons in the verbal fight between differently minded. When cynicism runs out of power let's ditch it..., but all. Also your "mainly those", I damn well know who it's for, maybe because I think before sharing. Greeting.

Polarization was not an evolutionary advantage only in prehistorical times. Actually it was an advantage (or at least was not a disadvantage) until quite recently. But with the advent of a truly interconnected global society humanity is on a par with a single global tribe. As such polarization has become a lethal and ultimately fatal flaw.

The perilous illusion of power in democracy.
People like to feel power, the power of making a decision and things getting done according to our decision. Unfortunately that’s usually all she wrote. “Getting done” more often than not has nothing to do with the executed decisions. Not even considering that a slim (51:49 – of those voting, not all eligible voters, let alone the whole populace) majority decision means that half of the voters don’t get their choices considered at all.
Democracy supplies the first half of this equation through voting etc.
It gets especially dangerous when it is exploited like in the “Trump Era” – including the Brexit fiasco. We have seen countless cases of people voting or forcefully expressing their democratic rights in ways that had nothing to do with their actual needs – just to feel the illusory power of deciding. It often feels like nothing more than a child snapping the wings off a fly to see what will happen or a deranged person sticking a match to a barn to see the consequences of his or her “power of choice”.
Also the “freedom of choice” not to wear a mask or not get vaccinated against Covid.

The Covid pandemic is a perfect example of the dichotomy of civilization. On one hand people chant “freedom” and want to overthrow the government for imposing rules, on the other they want healthcare for every itch.

In politics as well as other contentious topics (like Covid …) we all know what should or could be done or should have or could have been done better. But when asked about how to go about doing just that, there are usually no answers. Sometimes the critic gets to a further step but usually that’s the end, even though a resolution to any complex social or political problem requires many careful steps.
The problem is that we’re not wired for many complex steps. This was not required knowledge in prehistoric times. Now it is, but we lack it.
